Application

Who can participate?

We are looking for people from all walks of life. Applicants need to be a resident of Hopkins County. To be eligible, you must complete an application, be 18 years of age, possess a valid driver's license and not have a felony conviction. 

When will all this happen?

The academy will run 10 weeks beginning March 2nd and will be held each Tuesday thereafter with a graduation date of May 4th.  Classes are scheduled from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm with a dinner from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

 

What does this entail?

The course syllabus includes instruction, facilitation and scenario-based training on various aspects of law enforcement.  Participants will find this an enjoyable opportunity to learn a few things new and to network with other community members.   Topics will include:

Traffic Stops

Detention Center Tour

Crime Scene Investigations

Domestic Violence

Firearms

Drug Investigations

Graduation

Students will also have the opportunity to ride with an on duty officer from the participating agency.

 

      How much will this cost?

This is one of the best parts… The course is free.

 

The deadline for applications for this session Feb. 16, 2010. Slots are limited but we will be conducting future academies and those who don't make it into this one will be considered for the next
